Port Streets

Real Estate Information

The Harbor View (Port Streets) community is located between MacArthur Boulevard and San Miguel Drive on the coastal side of Bonita Canyon Drive. The northern end is marked by Bonita Canyon Sports Park (and the community of Bonita Canyon beyond that) and the southern end by Harbor View Nature Park.

Just beyond the southern end of Harbor View is the Newport Center shopping complex.

The Port Streets area is so-named because all the streets begin with "Port", like "Port Cardiff Place", "Port Stanhope Place", and so on. The lower portion of Harbor View, below Port Seabourne Way, is also known as Newport Hills, and there is also a small sub-section to the east of San Miguel Drive named Seawind. 

Port Streets & Harbor View Homes 

Homes for sale in Port Streets are mid-sized to large, single-family residences. Many have been updated over the years to incorporate modern, luxury features.

The original homes in the area were built from the late 1960s through to the early 1970s.  Many of these still remain, displaying excellent California modern architectural features, like low-pitched shed roofs and tall, well-lit interior spaces. Decorative brickwork, clerestory windows, and projecting roof supports are also common exterior features of these homes. 

However, over time, many of the homes in Harbor View have been replaced with larger custom projects. The homes cover a wide variety of styles, from Cape Cod to Spanish Revival to Shingle-style. 

Today, homes along the Port Streets range from $1,500,000 to $5,000,000 in price across more than 1000 home sites. Some of these homes are over 6000 square feet in size, although the average is closer to 3000 square feet. 

The homes of Harbor View / Port Streets are, without fault, beautifully landscaped. Community-friendly fences, flowering bushes, and mature trees are found throughout the neighborhood. Backyards are limited for lawns of their own, but many feature patios and pools that are perfect for enjoying the perfect Southern Californian weather. 

Harbor View, Port Streets Community Attractions & Features

The center of the community is home to Roy Andersen Elementary School.

Scattered throughout Harbor View are numerous community parks, many of which are joined together by a single trail running north to south between the homes. This trail system links a number of sports facilities and play areas, as well as the Newport Hills Community Association.

The Harbor View Community Pool at the northern side of Port Streets is another great attraction for families in the community.

Port Streets, Newport Beach, History

The Harbor View community was once located next door to an amusement park featuring a heard of bison and various other wild-west attractions. First leased in 1954, the Buffalo Ranch shut down operations in 1959. Some buffalo were later kept in the area up until 1994. 

The Port Street's central greenbelt - Buffalo Hills Park - is named after this once-locally-famous attraction. There is also a bronze buffalo statue at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Bonita Canyon Drive to commemorate the ranch. The ranch was principally located on the stretch of land above Bonita Canyon Drive, now occupied by the Bonita Canyon community
