Laguna Beach is known for many things, but its beaches are truly a must-see attraction and a great place to visit if you're looking for things to do in Orange County.

And if you want to escape the crowds at Laguna Beach's more popular seaside spots, then we have the place for you...

Anita Street Beach

Anita Street Beach is a hidden gem among the View looking north from near Anita Street Beach in Laguna Beach California showing beachside and oceanfront propertiesmany great beaches in Laguna Beach. Nestled between Oak Street Beach and Thalia Street Beach, this is a real locals' spot. You won't find many tourists at Anita Street Beach.

Directions

Unsurprisingly, you can find Anita Street Beach at the bottom of a long flight of stairs off Anita Street.

The entrance is roughly 0.7 miles from downtown Laguna Beach (from the intersection of Broadway Street and the North Coast Highway). Just turn right onto Anita Street (towards the ocean) from the Pacific Coast Highway.

Another option is to walk down from the Main Beach. The distance to Anita Street Beach from the town's Main Beach is about 2 thirds of a mile, so a casual walk should take about 15 minutes.

It may be difficult to find parking closeby, but look along Thalia Street

And this beach is truly gorgeous with a nice stretch of sand and cool rock formations out in the ocean.

It's also a great place to take in some of Laguna Beach's beautiful seaside homes, with stone walls, terraces, and balconies overlooking the water.

Things to Do at Anita Street Beach, Laguna Beach

Anita Street Beach is often frequented by families and surfers looking for mild waves that are perfect for surfing lessons. This is a great activity to get into yourself, or you can watch from the sand.

There is also a lifeguard on duty during the weekends and a fantastic cafe by the main road called Penguin Cafe where you can grab a yummy breakfast or lunch mid beach day!

There really is no shortage of places to visit in the Laguna Beach South area. The nearby South Coast Highway has many amazing cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants to explore. Notable examples are Adolfo's, Active Culture, The Stand, and Roux Creole.

Or check out the other nearby beaches:

  • St. Anns - A little further towards the Main Beach, and great for swimming
  • Thalia - Right next to Anita Street, and known as one of the best spots for beginner surfing in Laguna Beach
  • Oak Street - South of Anita Street, with a great viewing deck on the stairs up and an underrated surf break
